About

252 Meeting Street was constructed in 1838. John Whiting, a merchant, built the structure to replace an earlier building lost to in the Great Fire of 1838. It was a combined commercial-residential building, with a shop on the first level and residence on the upper levels. It was renovated in 1976. Most recently, it was used as an office space, and it was used as hotel rooms prior to that. Presently, the building is approx. 3,636 sqft with an attached garage. Over the collective of 248, 250 and 252 Meeting Street, are 22 surface lot parking spaces and 2 garage parking spaces, for a total of 24 spaces. The Preservation Society has a facade easement on the structure. In speaking with Kristopher King, he said he would certainly work with a renovation, as this was one of the first facades given to the Society. 252 Meeting Street is in moderate condition and could be reconfigured/updated as an office building, small inn, or residence. The location is prime for a commercial use.
